Day 33. Polperro to Crafthole

Nobody told the Polperro seagulls that the open mic finished at eleven last night because they had their own session at 4.30 this morning.
I had foolishly left my window open to air my stinking footwear and there was no way I could sleep through that racket.

Set off early to find a pharmacy to get some medication for the knee that Maggie hurt in the fall.
Bought a map and met a group of walkers in the shop, that we dubbed the gang of four, who were walking the same route.

I had never seen deserted streets in Polperro

Had a pleasant and not too difficult walk around to Looe.

Looe Harbour

We stopped at Looe for a bite to eat and Maggie bought a support brace for her troublesome knee.

Yet another diversion inland after Millandreath Beach to avoid another cliff fall.
This diversion took us around the monkey sanctuary (I'm not kidding) into a pleasant woodland, along quiet lanes, through gently rolling farmland and through the middle of cornfields.
It was just like walking in Hertfordshire.

At Seaton Beach there was a lack of concise information to decide if we could walk along the beach and sea wall so we erred on the side of caution and chose the road route.
Big mistake.
It took about 45 minutes to get to Downderry along a narrow road with no pathway, parked cars and drivers who don't know how to slow down.
Same situation at Downderry so we continued until we finally got back to the path proper at Battern Cliff.
There followed a superbly scenic cliff top walk with several ups and downs to arrive above Portwrinkle.

Looking down to Portwrinkle

We met a wonderfully weather beaten woman tending to the public flower beds (probably voluntarily) on the front in Portwrinkle who loved what she was doing as it gave her the perfect place to chat to passers-by.
She told us how many end to enders had passed that day and all the different nationalities.

Up the last hill of the day through the golf course, where I saw some up and downs of a different nature, to Crafthole.
Unfortunately, our hotel was a further mile on down a busy narrow road with double bends but was worth the effort.
