I swathed my feet in so many Compeeds that I looked like a geisha girl and, for the first half hour or so, I was walking like one.
Once my feet moulded into the plasters they didn't hurt too much and, thankfully, the going was fairly good.
Leaving the tent and gear behind was definitely the way to go.
It was another bright and breezy day and the path was pretty busy around the Bedruthan Steps.
This was another area with several stone age settlements (grassy bumps etc).
I've walked this stretch a few times before and knew that although Newquay could be seen in the distance there was still a lot of ground to cover.
Most of the way was fairly flat along grassy cliff tops with sharp dips down to Mawgan Porth and then Watergate Bay and both had the inevitable surf schools.
I'd walked through so many surf schools by now that I knew how each lesson begins.
'Ok guys, listen up, I want you to form a semi circle with your boards on the sand facing me'.
I managed to resist the temptation to call in to the spa at the Scarlet Hotel at Mawgan Porth and resisted the temptation to have lunch at Jamie Oliver's 15 at Watergate Bay.
What a saint I am.

Made good time into Newquay but didn't dwell for too long.
Thought about perhaps going to visit a podiatrist in town but felt fairly sure that they would recommend complete rest - that just couldn't happen.
Caught the bus back to Porthcothan and walked back to the campsite to rest my weary plates.
